Stornoway’s deep water port at Arnish hosted a ministerial visit once again on Saturday (4 February) as deputy first minister John Swinney MSP came to inspect progress.
Mr Swinney was shown how the dredging and infill work was progressing at the new deep water port at Arnish, and was briefed on milestones by construction contractors McLaughlin and Harvey and partners from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Stornoway Port Authority.
Later in the afternoon he chaired a meeting of the project development board including Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Mr Swinney described the progress he saw at the site as ‘excellent’ and said that he was delighted to be there.
