Caraidean Uibhist SCIO has issued an urgent appeal for volunteer drivers to transport service users to and from the charity’s events.

The befriending organisation wishes to compile a list of volunteers willing to help with transport.

All expenses are paid, and the commitment is flexible.

Volunteers are asked to contact Jo or Tracy on 01870 603233 for further information.

Caraidean Uibhist SCIO is an all-inclusive charity which provides free and confidential support to anyone aged 16 plus.

They aim to reduce loneliness and social isolation and support the community from Berneray to Eriskay.

Their services comprise one-to-one visits, one-to-one telephone calls and group activities.

Last month, Caraidean Uibhist SCIO became the first organisation in the Western Isles to be recognised with an award for being volunteer-friendly.

The Volunteer Friendly Award acknowledges that the Balivanich-based charity applies best practice in volunteer management and support given to volunteers.

The award scheme operated by Volunteer Scotland is a national quality standard used to support, recognise and reward groups which excel at involving volunteers.
