Tickets for a full band show with two of the founding members of Lewis band Astrid are selling out fast.
Willie Campbell and Charlie Clarke are taking the stage together at McChuills in Glasgow on Saturday, February 4, the day after the pair release a new single, ‘Wherever You Go’.
The duo will be joined by Paul Quinn, formerly the drummer with TFC and the Soup Dragons, and James (Cliffy) Clifford on bass.
Astrid was formed by the Lewis-born duo in Glasgow and quickly became a prominent fixture of the Glasgow indie scene in the 1990s.
The band’s debut album ‘Strange Weather Lately’ sold over 10,000 copies in 1999 and cemented the band’s indie status with a dedicatedly cult fanbase while earning support from the likes of John Peel, Steve Lamacq and Mark and Lard.
The group released three studio albums and several singles and EPs before breaking up in 2004.
The other founding Lewis member of Astrid was Gareth Russell, who was later joined by drummer Gareth Thom. They began rehearsing in 1997 and quickly caught the attention of Belle and Sebastian, who offered them a support slot on a small UK tour.
