Barra councillor Kenneth Maclean has launched an interactive map to flag up infrastructure repairs and improvements on the island.

The public map is hosted at Google Maps and can be used by islanders to highlight areas that need council attention.

Councillor MacLean has already populated the map with areas prone to flooding, broken culverts, places that would benefit from extra bins during the summer tourist season, and other issues that need fixing.

But he concedes, “I have almost certainly missed some things, so if you could have a click-through and make sure I’ve not missed anything, that would be fantastic. Additionally, providing a photograph of any possible issue would also help. I’ve not included potholes as they should be reported via the CNES website.”

According to Councillor MacLean, the Comhairle is aware of the map, and he will email updates to the relevant departments.

“Like all things, I can’t promise XYZ will get done quickly or at all, but obviously, I’ll do my best to try and get things done. Any other suggestions, feel free to say. Feel free to share so as many people [as possible] can see and help highlight any issues,” Councillor MacLean adds.
