Stòras Uibhist has secured £116,000 of funding to help kickstart the transformation of Lochboisdale.
The cash award from the Place Based Investment Programme comes as momentum builds in the Lochboisdale Strategic Visioning project to make it a great place to live, work and visit.
The funding enables work to start immediately on a range of smaller projects identified by the community as priorities, including small demolition work, rendering, outdoor painting and fencing.
Chairperson Mary Schmoller said: “Through the Lochboisdale Strategic Visioning study, a number of ambitious projects have been identified. This grant is just the first of many sources of potential funding that will allow us to deliver as many of the projects as possible on behalf of the community”.
Local contractors are now invited to contact Stòras Uibhist if they would like to tender for the project package that must be completed by 31st March 2023.
The Lochboisdale Strategic Visioning project aims to chart how to make Lochboisdale a great place to live, work and visit.
The initiative to reimagine Lochboisdale for the future is managed by Stòras Uibhist and jointly funded by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and HIE.
