The Santa Dash is back for 2022, and it’s going large across Lewis and Harris, with four different dashes on dates between now and Christmas Eve.
There’s no excuse for not being dressed the part, with Santa suits in all sizes now available to buy from Lewis and Harris Sports Centres, as event organisers Lewis and Harris Sports Council get into gear for their dashing series.
Runners can choose one (or more) of four routes – in Back and Tarbert on Saturday 10 December, Stornoway on Saturday 17, and in Ness on Christmas Eve, Saturday 24 December.
The individual or family runs are meant for fitness, fun and funds, with a fundraising page set up at https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/lewis-and-harris-santa-dash-2022.
Participants can walk, run or jog the routes, each approximately a mile long, dressed as Santa, an elf, a Christmas character or even just festooned in jingling bells.
Next week’s Broad Bay Santa dash starts at 11am and follows a route around Vatisker and Inner Coll, starting and finishing at Back Free Church car park.
In Tarbert the Santas will dash off from Tarbert Fire Station for a circuit of the village at their own pace.
Santa suits in adult sizes, ladies’ fit, for nine to 14 and five to eight-year-olds are now available at Ionad SporsLeodhais in Stornoway and from Harris Sports Centre in Tarbert.
Your own Santa dash photos are welcomed on the Isle of Lewis Cancer Research Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086934851156, where you’ll also find updates on routes and start times at the four different events.
