A week’s stay in a luxury self-catering cottage on Eriskay worth over £1000 is the latest fundraising effort for Ionad Eilean na h-Òige.
It is hoped the prize, donated by Michael and Tara Mackinnon, operators of ‘Conan Mara’, will raise £2,000 for the redevelopment of the island’s former school into a community hub.
Tickets for the draw are priced at £20 and can be purchased by donating to the fundraising appeal page at JustGiving.com.
Announcing the prize draw, Comann Eachdraidh Eirisgeidh: “Michael is from Eriskay and attended Eriskay school and was keen to contribute towards the redevelopment of the school.
"I think you will all agree that this is a fantastic prize which is worth over £1000.”
Conan Mara is a four-bedroom holiday home that sleeps up to seven people. The winner can book, subject to available dates, during 2023 or 2024.
The draw will take place in the last week of December if a minimum of 100 tickets have been sold.
The former Eriskay School was once the vibrant centre of the community on Eriskay, hosting everything from weddings, ceilidhs, movie nights, and an array of other community events stretching back as far as the early 1900s.
Various fundraising efforts are being made to breathe new life into the school and once again make it a multi-purpose community asset.
