Over 200 households in the Bays of Harris lost power last night (Thursday 24 November), according to a local spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).
Most households in the area experienced a brief flicker in their power supply, but the faulty cable in the Lickisto area put more than 200 in the dark from 10.30pm.
After engineers had begun work in horrendous conditions, the majority were restored to supply by 1am. About 30 addresses continued to be affected until around 4am today, after engineers completed repairs to the faulty cable.
The local spokesperson said that the resilience of the network was generally good, after a number of small upgrade projects around the islands since April.
