Iain Kelly, the author of The Barra Boy, is in conversation on Wednesday, November 30, courtesy of Western Isles Libraries.
The online event will see the former BBC television editor talk about his new book set in 1982 when 13-year-old Ewan Fraser is sent to stay with his aunt and uncle on Barra.
Resigning himself to a long summer of boredom, he is befriended by a local girl, Laura Robertson. Together, they explore Barra’s beaches and rocky coves.
But a dark secret that connects Laura to the mysterious outcast Mhairi Matheson and her son, Billy, is hidden beneath the tranquil surface. It’s a secret that threatens to tear the small community apart.
Forty years later, Ewan returns to confront the truth about the formative summer of his adolescence and finally learns the truth about Laura and the boy from Barra.
The event is free, but you must book a place via bit.ly/barraboy.
