Barra Airport has topped a poll of the world’s top six must-see runways in an Artemis Aerospace poll.
The tidal beach airstrip took the top spot after beating off the likes of Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Nepal, Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro, and Venice’s Marco Polo Airport.
Artemis Aerospace commented that there are over 41,000 airports worldwide, but Barra clinched first place because it is as “unique as it is spectacular.”
Also making the top six were Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport on the Greek island of Skiathos and Donegal Airport in Ireland.
Paradoxically, of course, it is impossible for islanders to fly direct from Benebecula or Stornoway airports to Barra.
