Record-breaking cyclist Christina Mackenzie is recovering in hospital after being knocked down and having her pelvis fractured by a hit-and-run driver. Christina had been left in excruciating pain after being hit by a 4x4 towing a trailer as it attempted to undertake her near a roundabout.
She had been training near Kippen, Stirlingshire on Tuesday when she was struck by the black car. It was thought at first that Christina would have to undergo a serious operation but doctors have now told her that will not be necessary.
Earlier today, Christina shuffled out of bed in the hospital to take a video call from island journalist Iain Maciver. He asked her how she was feeling.
