Erect a house

Proposals seeking planning permission in principle to build a house at 58 Tong have been received by the Comhairle.  The applicant is Craig Macleod, of La Rue de L’Etau, St Helier, Jersey.

Planning consent is being sought for a new build house and air source heat pump at 51 Cross Skigersta Road, Ness.  Applicant John Morrison of Drumlochie Gardens, Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is planning to build a three-bedroom home on a site of a previously demolished house.

Upgrade to telecoms mast

The Comhairle has been notified of plans to upgrade the police mast at Dalbeg.  Cell:cm has informed the Comhairle that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency plans to update the mast with two new link dishes at 22.5 metres and 30.5 metres, the installation of two new ODUs, and an equipment rack within the existing cabin.

Instal a new roof

Plans have been submitted to install a low pitch standing seam roof onto the existing flat roof of an extension at 40 Stewart Drive, Stornoway.  Applicant Ryan Maclennan of the same address says the proposed pitch roof will cover the property’s living room, utility room, and attached garage.

Planning consent in principle is being sought to erect a dwelling on a 0.16-hectare site at 19B North Street, Sandwick.  The applicant is Scott Macintyre, of 19 North Street, Sandwick.

Honesty shed

The Comhairle has received a retrospective planning application to create an honesty shed at Shop Mollans 32 North Shawbost.

Applicant Julie Child Mollans has converted an existing building into an honesty shed containing homemade and baked goods, and frozen meals. The shed is also used for cooking and selling hot and cold food and drinks.

However, in her planning permission application, Mollans states that she was unaware of the need to obtain planning permission when supplying hot food. When informed of this, a retrospective application was immediately submitted.

The honesty shed operates 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday.

In the supporting information, the applicant states that the hot food takeaway operates from 12 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm until 7.30 pm Fridays and Saturdays from April 1 to October 15. For the rest of the year, the takeaway operates only on Fridays from 12 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm until 7.30 pm.

Bird net replacement

The Scottish Salmon Company has submitted a prior notification to replace bird nets at their Taranaish fish farm in East Loch Roag, Kirkibost, Bernera. The proposal is to replace the existing bird nets with new nets with a top and side mesh size of 100mm. The existing five-metre high support structure is to remain unchanged.

Applicant Donna Gillies, of 13 Cnoc Iomhair, Stornoway, is planning to build a two-storey, three-bedroom home on a 0.10-hectare site.
