Mathematics Lecture

A Proof of Fermat's Last Theorem

Orinsay Village Hall
South Lochs

Tuesday 28 June, 7pm

Fermat was a French mathematician who claimed to have proved a certain theorem in
one of his books. Because he died without showing what that proof was, maths
scholars have been trying to solve the theorem ever since. Andrew Wiles solved it in 1994,
although he had to invent new mathematics and his proof was 200 pages long.

In my proof it is only 4 pages long with a 12 page appendix. The idea of the lecture is to show the 4 page
proof with the mathematics that he had available at the time of his theorem. It is very simple
as proofs go and all are welcome to the lecture if you have an interest.

If you are keen I can send a copy of the proof beforehand to any maths scholars who might
want to peruse the logic. I can be contacted at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Just leave a name and postal address and I will send a paper copy a.s.a.p."
