The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee runs from the 2 to 5 June 2022 - and on the Western Isles, the Ness district is leading the way in recognising the event.

And there's a need to register events and activities happening in your community.

A number of events and activities are being planned in the Western Isles to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from the 2-5 June to mark this milestone in The Queen’s historic reign and her outstanding service to the UK over the past 70 years.

Now, the Lord Lieutenant for the Western Isles, Iain Macaulay, is encouraging communities and organisations to register these events on the Official Platinum Jubilee Website at https://platinumjubilee.gov.uk/event-submission/

Events planned over the Jubilee weekend include garden parties, a community ceilidh, afternoon tea party with family & friends, community bonfires, Pipe Band display and a Special Thanksgiving Sunday Church service.

These are some of the events that have been shared with the Lord-Lieutenant, with some communities still to finalise their arrangements.

Mr Macaulay said “It is important that the range of events taking place in the Western Isles to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is recorded on the national web map. So, I’d encourage everyone to register any events they are involved with in their area.

"At the moment the Ness district has been the first to register one of their events on the website; extending an invitation to the community to come along to ‘Eoropie Dunes Park for an afternoon of Jubilee fun, tea party, treasure hunt and crafts’”.
