Let me introduce myself to those who don’t know me. I am Tracey Dinner, a Canadian who moved to the Isle of Lewis in 2002. I am a mother to Cherish and Colton and a grandmother to Ethan who resides in Leverburgh. I have worked at I.A. & C. Maciver Limited for coming up to 19 years and I have a shop in the town centre called The Chimney and Gable at No.7a.

I chose to run for Council in the Stornoway North ward because I love where I live and want to be a part of the decision-making process. It is my hope that getting elected would bring a different perspective and ideas to the body driving the decisions for us all. I would hold regular surgeries to meet with and listen to Stornoway North constituents.

I have made The Outer Hebrides my home, I am respectful of the traditions that make this place stand out from the rest of the UK. Progress and innovation don’t need to alter the essence of what is special and meaningful to both Islanders and those who choose to reside here.

The issues continue to challenge with increased pressure during the pandemic. Housing, employment opportunities, aging population & depopulation, lifeline ferry service, declining town centre foot traffic, tourism, bullying and social exclusion leading to anti-social behavior are at the forefront of what matters to most within the ward I live. We will work together and propose initiatives to improve and build an even stronger community. Tourism, Crofting, NHS, CnES, Independent and National Businesses and Companies are vital to our islands’ economy as are the Islanders and Residents that live here. We need to build a representative voice on what matters specific to this island and the communities that make up the whole, engaging with other island communities and using that collective voice to influence policy at the various levels of government.

There is a wealth of possibilities and I would be honoured to be a part of the next five years working alongside the Constituents, Councillors, Organisations and Businesses within my ward.
