Weather-related cancellations have once again today (Thursday January 6) struck the ferry services that are still running to and between the Western Isles.
In Stornoway, today's freight service from Ullapool is delayed. Due to forecast adverse weather the 0300 sailing from Ullapool will be delayed until 1200. The 2230 sailing from Stornoway may be delayed due knock on delay from previous sailings.
As a result, the 0700 sailing from Stornoway and 1030 sailing from Ullapool have been cancelled.
The 1400 sailing from Stornoway will be delayed until approx 1530 but will operate on a load and go basis. The 1730 sailing from Ullapool will be delayed until approx 1900 but will operate on a load and go basis. Traffic for 1400 and 1730 sailings are asked to please check in as normal.
Already hit by tidal issues this week, the Sound of Harris services has lost sailings.
Due to forecast of Southerly winds gusting up to 57 mph, the 0815 sailing from Berneray and the 0925 sailing from Leverburgh are cancelled.
The 1150 sailing from Berneray and the 1300 sailing from Leverburgh are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice if there is no improvement in the weather.
On the Uig, Skye - Lochmaddy - Tarbert routes, the 0730 sailing Lochmaddy to Uig has been cancelled.
Service will resume from 1150, weather permitting, with the following amended timetable:
- Depart - Lochmaddy 1150
- Arrive - Uig 1335
- Depart - Uig 1500
- Arrive - Lochmaddy 1645
- Depart - Lochmaddy 1700
- Arrive - Tarbert 1850
The Lochboisdale services remain cancelled because of the impact of Covid-19 and the Eriskay-Barra service is being provided by a passenger charter vessel.
