Peat & Diesel discovered a sad truth about life off the Islands yesterday (Saturday November 27) after opportunist thieves broke into their transport at a motorway service station and stole £10,000s of equipment needed for their tour across the UK with the Levellers.

Having posted the shocking news on social media, the group had then to leap back into action on-line to plead with fans not to set up a fundraising page!

The WeeStudio van and equipment are fully insured, they told everyone so there's no need to dip into your own pockets.

The original Facebook post stated: "Good evening coves & blones. Today we got a nasty surprise. As we came out from a service station on the M1 heading to O2 Academy Brixton, we found the Wee Studio van had been broken into via the passenger window. They did make off with a 5 figure sum of equipment.

"However...We still have a drumkit, a guitar, an accordion and a Boydie. THE SHOW WILL GO ON!"

And they added: "We would like to thank The Levellers and their fantastic support staff from the bottom of our country boy hearts for repairing our window in our van, and making sure we are able to get to this gig."

After the inheritable outpouring of support and outrage from 100s of fans, the group had to plead:

"Hello folks, just a quick note.

"Please don’t set up any fund me page for us, we’re all good and currently dealing with insurance companies.

"We do appreciate the love and you all thinking of us."

As one fan commented: "That's nae how they do it in the Western Isles, that's fae sure."

And the shows are going on…

Last night Peat & Diesel completed their first run with the Levellers but is the start of a full week for Peat & Diesel gigs down south.

"We’re delighted to be joined by Cody Feechan for these dates," they say.
