The life of a dear friend, neighbour and community champion is to be celebrated by the older generation of the Aird district next Thursday (21 October).
The Young at Heart Club are holding a special get-together to remember their stalwart member and friend Kenneth Macdonald, aka 'Kenniman', at Tiumpanhead Community Centre at 2pm on that day.
Kenniman’s son, Iain Eric, will give a half hour presentation celebrating his father’s life during the regular meeting of the club.
Kenniman passed away at Bethesda Hospice on 2 October after only a short illness. He had been out cutting grass in his beloved home village of Portnaguran just a month before his death.
Soon after his passing Iain Eric said: “He was always there with the pot of paint, the strimmer or the mower. He had a sense of duty, was a diligent worker and was very proud of his village.”
The picture shows Kenniman this summer at the pier in Portnaguran, where he could often be found tidying the area, or giving local insights to the many visitors.
