Alasdair Allan MSP has raised the extended EE mast outage in Uig, West Lewis with Kate Forbes MSP, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy
The EE mast at Islibhig went down on 11th June and has still not been repaired due to a lack of spares.
Whilst a temporary fix was installed it does not provide the full service for residents and EE are unable to provide any timeline for a repair.
Alasdair Allan MSP said: “This mast outage is having serious consequences for residents in Uig, many of whom rely on 4G Broadband for internet connectivity.
“I have repeatedly pressed EE to fix the mast but they seem unable to get the required parts for the mast and their temporary fix does not seem to work for many of my constituents.
“I have asked the Cabinet Secretary if there is anything the Scottish Government can do to help EE repair the mast as it is almost six weeks since the mast went down.
“I continue to ask EE to expedite the repairs to the mast as six weeks without this lifeline service is simply unacceptable.”
