One man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and another is in custody on the mainland after a series of assaults in Stornoway last weekend.
Several assaults were reportedly committed by one individual in the early hours of Sunday 6 June, when three young people were attacked on Kenneth Street. A young man went to hospital the following day for treatment to his injuries.
After extensive police enquiries on all three reported incidents, involving two young women and the injured male victim, a 32-year-old man has been charged with multiple assaults and is being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
In a separate incident late on Friday 4 June, police were called to Stornoway town centre, where a 23-year-old man was acting in an aggressive manner.
The man was detained at 11pm and charged with threatening and abusive behaviour, police assault and with carrying an offensive weapon.
He was kept in custody and appeared in court on Monday, after which he was remanded in custody.
He’s now being kept in a custodial facility on the mainland.
