All candidates at this year's Scottish Parliament election in the Western Isles were asked to take part in an "Election Hustings" by the independent 'Time for a Change' candidate Callum Ian Macmillan.

But he says no one else has committed to take part. "What have they got to hide?" he says.

He has also once again challenged the others to match his guarantee that, if elected, he will contribute 10% of his MSP's salary to local charities .

Campaigning in Tarbert and other parts of Harris yesterday (Monday May 3) Mr Macmillan said: "10% of an MSP's salary is peanuts compared to the £ 9000 that Bethesda and other local charities would get – at a time when they need it most!"  Mr Macmillan is pictured with his agent Frank Burns.

Meanwhile, ballot papers for postal voters in Na h-Eileanan an Iar have arrived on doormats, ready for the Scottish Parliament election on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Malcolm Burr, Constituency Returning Officer, said: “When you receive your postal voting pack, make sure you read and follow the instructions carefully before completing your ballot papers. Don’t forget to include your date of birth and signature on the postal voting statement.  Follow the instructions in the pack to make sure your vote counts”

“Postal ballot papers must be received by the Returning Officer by 10pm on Thursday 6 May 2021.  As soon as you have completed your ballot papers and postal vote statement place it in the envelope provided and return it to make sure that it is received in good time.”
