It's taken 20 years…but it's worth it, says the Ness Melodeon Band as they announce that their long-awaited CD album will be available from Friday 30th April.
"It has been a long time ambition of the Band to have a collection of its unique traditional sound available for fans to enjoy," they say.
Although the Band has been entertaining crowds for more than 20 years, this is the first album that has been produced of their work.
There has been no shortage of demand for a recording but their live performances in the islands, mainland Scotland and Ireland have kept the melodeons playing and band members busy.
They say: "Ness Melodeon Band has sadly lost a number of its members over the years and this recording is truly a tribute to those Band stalwarts who are no longer with us. The music lives on in this recording and allows Band members - and, more important, friendships- to be remembered with a smile and a cèilidh dance or two.
"This recording would also not have been possible without the support of Keith Morrison at Wee Studio.
Mary Duff from the Band commented, “We are grateful for all the support from Keith and also from BBC Radio nan Gaidheal. This recording has been a long time coming and we hope that everyone enjoys it- although we also hope to play live again soon!”
The album is £12 and will be available from 30th April as a CD for sale in local shops or as a digital download from the usual providers. For those who cannot wait until the end of the month, you can pre-order at https://weestudiorecords.bandcamp.com/.
After a year without live music it’s definitely time to have a cèilidh dance in your kitchen and this CD is the ultimate accompaniment!
