The year 2021 has already started off well in one specific way, according to Western Isles Weather.
Weatherman Richard Cooke reports today (Friday 8 January) that there have already been more hours of sunshine in Stornoway than were recorded in the whole month of January 2019.
Richard said: “We have had over 13 hours of sunshine at the Stornoway Met Office site. In January 2019 we only had 12.9 hours of sunshine for the whole month, which was a weather station record going back 91 years.”
And despite the icy conditions underfoot, many have taken advantage of the bright, clear weather to start winter off enjoying time outdoors.
