The first opportunity to collect a Santa suit ready for the annual Santa Run is today (Tuesday 8 December).

It’s one of a number of pick-up-a-Santa-suit sessions to be held in Stornoway over the next week.

The Santa Run has followed the now well-trodden path of going virtual for 2020, to avoid the usual large gathering of Santas, which would exceed current Covid-19 regulations.

Instead, raising funds for the Lewis Branch of Cancer Research UK will be at your own pace, in your own space, anytime over the weekend starting on Thursday 17 December.

You are asked to walk or run a mile, dressed in a Santa suit or Christmas clobber, and to take a picture for the Lewis committee’s Facebook page at

https://www.facebook.com/Cancer-Research-Uk-Isle-of-Lewis-Committee-114247851930956

If you don’t have your own festive togs or Santa suit, there are chances to buy one for the run tomorrow (Tuesday) and on Thursday (10 December), Tuesday 15 December and Thursday 17 December at the Mortgage Shop on North Beach, Stornoway, between 6 and 8pm.

There’s also to be a street collection on Cromwell Street between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 12 December. All money raised will go to the Lewis Branch of Cancer Research UK.
