The Met Office has this morning (Friday January 10th) issued a new weather warning for Monday, with the Western Isles one of the areas they urge to be aware of possible storm impacts.
The warning covers the period from 12noon to midnight on Monday, and warns of a very windy period with some disruption to travel likely.
It says: “An area of very strong winds will move eastwards across the UK through Monday afternoon and evening, clearing eastwards overnight. The strongest winds are expected around exposed coasts and hills in the west of the UK.
“Here gusts of 60-70mph are likely, with a few sites perhaps seeing gusts to 80mph. A narrow band of squally heavy rain moving east, accompanying the strongest winds, may be an additional hazard.”
