Three romances this weekend proved that music really is the food of love, with one wedding and two engagements blossoming alongside Lewis’s thriving musical scene.

Drummer D C Macmillan started the trend with his marriage last week to artist Alice Macleod.

The Lewis musical world was out in force at their wedding celebration in Norfolk, with the love-bug also biting singer-songwriters Eleanor Nicolson and Iain ‘Spanish’ Mackay, who announced their engagement just a day later. The future ‘Mrs Spanish’ flashed her engagement ring as Spanish announced on Thursday (August 8th) “Blone said yes!”

All the musicians were back in Stornoway for the weekend’s successful Stramash festival at Willowglen, where meanwhile the unstoppable Peat & Diesel had some romantic news of their own.

Accordionist Innes Scott announced his engagement on Friday to Lewis Pipe Band drummer Donna Hall, seen below. He said: “I asked her did she want to be more than just a roadie in Peat & Diesel? She replied ‘Yes a bhalaich’.”
