BETHESDA Hospice has taken ownership of a new van to collect essential medical and nursing supplies.

A cheque for £10,000 was recently presented to Bethesda by NHS Western Isles Nurse Director, Sandy Brown.

Bethesda General Manager, Carol Somerville, said: "We are extremely grateful to NHS Western Isles for assisting us to purchase a new van. The van is used to collect essential medical and nursing supplies for the Hospice and to transport blood for patients requiring blood transfusions.

"The van is also used to collect and deliver furniture and goods for the Bethesda Hospice Charity Shop, helping to raise the necessary funds to keep the Hospice open and provide a service to the community."

NHS Western Isles Nurse Director, Sandy Brown, stated: "We were delighted to have been able to provide this grant to enable Bethesda to purchase an essential new vehicle. Bethesda provides an invaluable service of an extremely high standard, which is sincerely appreciated by the local community as well as by NHS Western Isles."
