Lews Castle College UHI welcomed its first cohort of 20 students on the newly developed Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Quality Improvement at the UHI PGT Induction Weekend, held in early September at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness. The new award is a collaboration between Lews Castle College UHI and NHS Highland, through the Highlands and Islands Improvement Institute (HIᵌ).
The Health Department at Lews Castle College in Stornoway is seeking to recruit supply lecturers to work on an ad-hoc basis in a range of Health, Child and Social Studies subject areas. The successful candidates will hold appropriate qualifications and/or experience. Whilst not essential, experience of teaching would be an advantage, as would a teaching qualification.
Lews Castle College recognises the equality between Gaelic and English, and would welcome applicants with skills in both areas

The new academic year begins at Lews Castle College UHI on 3rd September, and there are still a number of spaces available on business courses for anyone interested in developing their administration and IT skills. From qualifications that will help students build on an already-established admin career, to short courses that offer instruction for general computer skills, Lews Castle College in Stornoway offers a variety of flexible options.
There are still spaces available on the following courses, which can be studied on a part-time or full-time basis, and range from National Certificate (NC) level to HNC/D. Some may also be available to study on a flexible distance-learning basis.
PDA in Office Administration
The British Computer Society (BCS) Certification is also available to study from beginner to advanced levels, in subjects such as Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, IT Security, IT Fundamentals, and internet and email use.
