Cllr Roddie Mackay has been elected as the new Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. 

Cllr Mackay  - a member for Steornabhagh a Tuath - takes over from Angus Campbell, who stood down at the recent election. 

He was proposed by Cllr Charlie Nicolson and faced a challenge from Cllr Donald Manford who was proposed by Cllr Roddy Mackay, member for Benbecula and North Uist. 

After being put to members, Cllr Roddie Mackay received 18 votes while Cllr Manford received 13 votes.
