The first councillors elected in the 2017 Western Isles local government elections are Finlay Cunningham, Paul Finnegan, and John G. Mitchell, in the Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch ward. 

Finlay Cunningham collected most votes, with 381. 

Paul Finnegan was next, with 189, and John G. Mitchell grabbed the third spot with 172. 

Catherine Macdonald missed out on re-election by a mere six votes. 

There was a 63.2 per cent turnout, and there were 28 spoiled papers.
