Ballet Hebrides has been nominated for a Voluntary Arts 'Epic' Award - and you can help them win it!

Say the awards organisers: "Opportunities to see ballet in the Western Isles of Scotland are few and far between, so when Ballet Hebrides came into being, they quickly filled a gap in the market.

"An amateur dance group of men and women aged 12+, of any ability, Ballet Hebrides believes that dance should be inclusive to anyone, and has never turned anyone away.

"Based on the Isle of Lewis, the group also enjoys collaborating with local artists and musicians to create innovative multi-arts productions. In December 2016, after months of preparation, Ballet Hebrides performed the first production of The Nutcracker in the Western Isles.

"They partnered with local dance schools, providing a chance for approximately 60 dancers, aged 5 to OAP, to perform. Five amateur choreographers collaborated to create the work, and amateur stage managers and artists helped backstage.

"The production played to two sold-out audiences, giving many people their first opportunity to see a full-length ballet."
