The emergency 999 phone services has now been restored in the Highlands and Islands area Police Scotland advise.

British Telecom has confirmed disruption to the 999 service which affected some landlines across the Highlands and Islands – including Stornoway – has now been fully restored.

Police Scotland thank residents for their patience and understanding during the disruption.

Other areas which had been affected were Ardersier, Nairn, Cawdor, Kinlochleven and Tain.
