Trading Standards Officers at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are aware of doorstep sellers currently on the Isle of Lewis who may be selling tools and electrical equipment.
A spokesperson said: “Not only are goods purchased from doorstep sellers often of an inferior quality, but these items can pose a safety risk to consumers. Ultimately unsafe goods can cause death, injury or damage to property, or the consumer can be left out of pocket with little hope of redress from the sellers. Our advice is simply – do not buy from door to door sellers.”
To report doorstep sellers, please contact Trading Standards on 01851 822 694, Police Scotland on 101 or Faire Community Careline on 01851 701702
