New protests are being made by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to bus company Citylink about the bus service between Inverness and Ullapool.
There have been a flood of complaints by people unable to get seats on the buses when travelling to and from Ullapool for the Loch Seaforth ferry. Both local people and tourists have faced difficulties getting seats on busy buses and then missed the ferry.
Council convener Norman MacDonald said that having travelled a long distance to Inverness people are then stranded there or pay up to £100 for a taxi to Ullapool. He added that if Citylink failed to provide a reliable service with sufficient capacity, the Council might then have to look at other options including the possibility of providing a service itself.
The Comhairle’s priority at this stage is to seek a meeting with Citylink for discussions regarding the service.
