One of Stornoway's premier music festivals has been awarded £10,000 from Awards for All Scotland.
'Stramash', which takes place this year on 2 and 3 September, is the brainchild of local music legend Paul Matheson, and raises vital funds for the Leanne Fund.
The event is held at Lews Castle Green, and provides an opportunity for local musicians of all ages to hone their creative talents and performance skills whilst getting the invaluable experience of playing their music to a live audience.
Welcoming the funding announcement, Alasdair Allan MSP commented: “Everyone involved in this successful bid should be congratulated for their work in obtaining the maximum grant possible.
“It’s fantastic to see a local project such as this get the support it needs from Lottery funding. The grant will allow the organisers to buy their own marquee where they can hold their annual music festival. I know that the event has proved popular in the four years it has been running and that they have an excellent track record in raising money for charity, with £1400 donated to The Leanne Fund last year.”
Awards for All Scotland gives out grants of between £500 and £10,000 to projects that bring communities together to enjoy a range of activities.
It is a partnership by sportscotland and Big Lottery Fund.
