History is set to repeat itself on Saturday as toddler Lily Mai Walker, aged two years and five months, takes on the Stornoway Family Fun Run to raise funds for charity – just like her mum Natasha did when she was a similar age.
“Lily Mai's mum ran the same fun run when she was the same age in the 90s and raised funds then for the Fisherman's Mission,” said Lily Mai's grandmother Tracey Walker, who lives in Stornoway.
“We thought it would be a great idea if Lily Mai could do the same race now and she'll be raising money for Yorkhill Hospital,” she continued.
“It's a place that is close to us as a family as Natasha attended when she was little and now Lily Mai goes down to Yorkhill as she has problems with her toes. It doesn't stop her walking everywhere though, so she'll have no trouble following in her mum's footsteps to complete the Fun Run.”
Raising funds as a way to say thank you to Yorkhill for all the help Lily Mai has received, Tracey has set up a JustGiving page with a target of collecting £100 – and if you want to sponsor little Lily Mai and help her reach the target through donation, click here.
