Nominations are open now for the best community wind project in Europe.

 

WISE Power is seeking to award the title of Best Community Project in Europe, and wants to hear from you if you know an onshore wind project which demonstrates:

•        Innovative engagement and participation methods

•        Community ownership and financial involvement in a commercial scheme

•        Collaborative partnership approaches to project delivery

•        Transformational impact on a local area

•        Positive reception and local acceptance of a wind project

WISE Power aims to significantly improve local engagement and support for wind turbines through increasing local community participation in the site selection, planning and implementation of wind energy projects.  The project has developed and launched an online tool - WE Engage – which aims to foster public support for onshore wind power through information and advice to communities, Transmission System Operators, developers and local authorities; supporting stakeholders to learn from best practice when designing social engagement strategies for onshore wind projects. 

WISE Power spans 13 EU countries - Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain and the UK. UK partners include Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the Scottish Government.
