The 12m creel boat was towed to Stornoway harbour

Stornoway RNLI lifeboat and volunteer crew launched amid Force 9 weather on Saturday, February 20th, to the aid of a local creel boat.

The 'Tom Sanderson' lifeboat launched at 1408hours on Saturday in response to a call for assistance from a 12m creel boat, broken down half a mile south from Holm Island.

Weather was poor, with a westerly F9 and occasional snow and hail showers reducing visibility.

The RNLI lifeboat and crew were on the scene within 14 minutes however, and a tow-line established between the two vessels.

The creel boat was then towed back into the safety of Stornoway Harbour and secured alongside at 1522hours.
