Wind energy construction works for Urras Energy Society are continuing apace on the west side of Lewis.

The wind turbine bases at Ballantrushal were completed last week as Urras Energy gears up for arrival of two Enercon tubines at the end of June.

Enercon’s  sub-contractors made good progress with excavations, fixing steel reinforcement and concrete pouring over the last six weeks, despite some  wet and windy weather.

The next stage for this exciting project is the completion of access roads and laydown areas by late May to be followed by electrical cabling installations towards the end of June.

Meantime, negotiations with Triodos Bank are bearing completion and it is hoped loan finance can be made available over the next few weeks.
