Stornoway Port Authority has announced the appointment of Mr. Alexander D. Macleod to the post of Chief Executive.
Mr. Macleod (46) brings a wide range of managerial and practical skills to the Port and is currently Commercial Manager with a well known local Civil Engineering company. In that role he gained considerable experience around Stornoway Harbour and has been involved in a number of major infrastructure projects at the port over many years including the recently upgrading of Number 3 Pier.
He was also involved in a major Harbour infrastructure project connected with the America’s Cup viaduct basin in Auckland, New Zealand.
Mr Macleod, his wife and young family live on the croft in Cnoc, Point which has been in his family for generations, and his uncle, grandfather and indeed great grandfather (who was Skipper of the Muirneag) were all fishermen working out of Stornoway.
Commenting, Captain Robert Frater said “It is clear Mr. Macleod is passionate about Stornoway Harbour and he is committed to addressing the many challenges in managing and improving the Port for the benefit of all of its stakeholders. The Board is delighted that Mr. Macleod has accepted the position of Chief Executive and is confident that he is very well equipped and placed to meet the varying demands of the post”
It is anticipated that Mr. Macleod will take up the post on 27 July 2015.
