Two community-owned homes are almost ready for occupation in Gravir, South Lochs, with applications open for tenants until July 1st.
The two-bedroom, semi-detached homes in Carn Aonghais have been fully renovated with full insulation, underfloor heating and brand new kitchens and bathrooms by Pairc Trust – with support from a huge range of individuals and organisations.
Fiona Stokes, estate manager for the Pairc Trust, said: “It really is all about teamwork. From the Comhairle housing team and the funders to the housing association and project managers Taighean Innse Gall (TIG), construction company O’Mac and all the specialist trades involved on site – everyone has done their part to make it happen.”
Project managers TIG are expecting the two-bedroom, three-person homes to be completed by the end of July – on schedule. With a kitchen/living area, bedroom and family bathroom downstairs and another bedroom and en-suite upstairs, either of the homes would make an ideal starter-home for a young couple, with the playpark and school just across the road.
TIG will also be letting agents and will assess the applications for tenancy, draw up the tenancy agreements, collect the rent and deal with any issues that arise. Advertising for tenants has begin through social media sites and in EVENTS newspaper and Pairc Trust are hoping that this, together with word of mouth, will spread the news and ensure that as many people as possible know about this opportunity.
An ‘Open House’ event on Monday June 24th, between 4pm and 8pm, will also give people a chance to have a good look at what is being offered and it’s hoped that new tenants will be in occupation anytime from August 1st onwards.
