Missing girl Sophia Veart who vanished in Edinburgh on Saturday (June 15th) is report to have returned home today.

This came after police, family and friends appealed for help to find her.

Her father Martin said on Twitter on Sunday: “My daughter Sophia went out Saturday night in Edinburgh and did not return home.

“We were to go to Glasgow this afternoon for an important event. If anyone sees her, please tell her to get in contact. I’m very worried.”

Friends joined in with separate appeals.  Later Martin stated:

“Thank you all and thank you to Sophia’s friends who are busting a gut to find her.

“But I need Sophia to either contact me or her friends to take either me or the police to her.”

Late this morning – just before midday – Martin reported on Twitter that Sophie had first been in contact with police and then that she had returned home.

Until the end of last week, Sophia worked at one of Stornoway’s fish and chip shops and she went down to Edinburgh to start university summer school.

Martin has been a Liberal Democrat Candidate for Edinburgh Northern & Leith and the Lothian region and formerly worked in the oil and gas industry in different parts of the world.
