Floral displays and other environmental improvements around Stornoway are ensuring the town is looking its best for the busy summer season ahead.

Working hard to improve the town, Stornoway Amenity Trust are urging the whole community to help keep the town tidy and are asking that all posters and cable ties put up are also removed after events have taken place.

Volunteers from the Trust recently spent many hours recently removing posters and cable ties from lamposts, railings, street furniture, bus shelters and walls around Stornoway.

Chair of the Trust, Charlie Nicolson said: “Over the last few months Stornoway Amenity Trust have been working with CnES on a planned programme of environmental improvements in the Town Centre and floral displays which will be in seen in full colour during the summer months. This is supported by Western Isles Lottery.

“It is good to see so many events taking place in the community but we are asking folk to ensure that their posters including cable ties etc are removed once the event has been held.

“Our volunteers removed hundreds of out of date posters and a huge amount of cable ties and we are urging those who put them up in future to make sure they also take them down again.”

Stornoway Amenity Trust is a not-for-profit organisation which works to improve the town for all to enjoy.
