Two student artists from Macaulay College in Stornoway are making a festive splash with their artwork – just in time for Christmas.

Their distinctive drawings and designs are behind the launch of a new company, Power Up Designs, which is producing greetings cards including a unique range of Christmas cards.

The artists are Iain Macleod and Steven Maclennan, whose work is pictured above. The pictures show Iain’s Santa card and Steven’s take on a festive police station (Power Up Designs).

Macaulay College director Roland Engebretsen said: “Both Iain and Steven are passionate about drawing and dedicate a lot of time to their work. We feel that their work lends itself to the greetings card format very well.

"Using money donated by the Rangers Club and DJs George and Paul we have had the initial sets made and bought more materials. The profits from the new company, Power Up Designs, are all going to the artists.”

Those shopping for Christmas cards can get their hands on a set, featuring Santa and superheroes, or brightly decorated buildings and Christmas lights, at their stall in the Town Hall on the night of the Christmas lights switch-on in Stornoway.

An Lanntair’s gift shop already stocks some of the designs, and by early December Blackhouse Bakery and an online shop will also be available for orders.
