Stornoway RNLI launched last night (Sunday, June 17th) at 2050hours to the aid of a yacht in difficulties with fuel problems.
On passage from Iceland, the yacht was struggling to make headway near Cellar Head when the Stornoway ‘Tom Sanderson’ RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch to assist.
The lifeboat arrived by the casualty at 2145hours and a tow line was established between the two vessels.
The volunteer crew of Stornoway RNLI then towed the stricken yacht to Stornoway harbour where she was safely secured alongside at 0125hours this morning (Monday, June 18th).
And Stornoway RNLI lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service again at 0150hours.
