The Western Isles Development Trust wishes to increase the number of directors on its Board from the community.
Directors (other than nominated directors) are elected from and by the ordinary members. The Company is keen to increase its membership across the Western Isles before seeking to appoint additional directors.
In the last 18 months the Company has invested over £140,000 (not including distribution of Transocean monies) to promote its objectives.
The most recent award was a grant of £10,000 to Urras Sgìre Oighreachd Bharbhais for the Barvas Local Energy Project. The money will be used to help fund Phase 1 of the project up to the construction phase of a wind turbine (including detailed design and feasibility study) to provide power for a local business on the estate.
