The Isle of Barra is on a short-term lockdown as storm winds sweep across from the Atlantic, with transport services suspended this morning (Friday December 7th).
Ferry services have been cancelled between Ardmhor and Eriskay, with a review due at 1pm, and there is no sailing between Castlebay and Oban.
MacNeil Coaches have suspended all public bus services on the grounds of safety, with a review at lunchtime in the hope of running the 13.20 service, weather permitting. All school buses have also been suspended.
However, flights from Glasgow to Barra are currently expected to depart as scheduled.
Barra is experiencing wind speeds gusting over 70mph this morning, with the forecast showing continued gales, diminishing in strength through the day.
A Met Office weather warning and a SEPA flood warning are in place for the remainder of the day, and SSEN are on storm alert in case of any power supply issues.
