Western Isles Island Games Association (WIIGA) were, unfortunately, short of the requirement number of qualifying members to be quorate for their Biennial General Meeting.

They require 14 members in attendance to be quorate. A new date has been set for the WIIGA BGM on Thursday 15th March at 6.30pm in the Council Chambers in Stornoway, with a video link available in the LEC in Benbecula.

Most of their core sports give the opportunity for their elite performers to compete at international level and they need your support to maintain this.

Representatives from all clubs associated with the Island Games sports detailed below are welcome to come along:

Archery; Judo; Athletics; Sailing;  Badminton;  Shooting;  Basketball;  Squash Bowls;   Swimming;  Cycling; Table Tennis; Football;  Tennis; Golf; Triathlon; Gymnastics; Volleyball.

Please note that even if your sport is not included in the Gibraltar 2019 Games, WIIGA are still very keen to be involved in the development of these sports for future games as well as the Western Isles wide development of sport.

The meeting will include a review of last year’s successful Games in Gotland and a look forward to the NatWest Island Games XVII Gibraltar 2019.

WIIGA Chairperson, Norrie MacDonald, said “Following yet another successful Games in Gotland last year, we are already beginning preparations for the 2019 Games in Gibraltar.  This event will no doubt have its own challenges and it is important to us all to ensure that our elite athletes are ready and prepared for Gibraltar with as much support as possible from WIIGA.  We look forwards to welcoming our members and anyone interested in supporting our work to the BGM this year”.
