The Lewis branch of Volunteer Centre Western Isles are supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal and encouraging everyone to get involved!  Donations can be dropped into the Volunteer Centre at 95 Cromwell Street, Stornoway.

Councillor Charlie Nicolson launched the appeal this week and explains “Christmas can be a challenging time for some people in our community and there are great local organisations working to help with this. I’m delighted to work with the Volunteer Centre, who provide vital support to charities throughout the islands, and who this year are promoting the Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal.  Donations can come from individuals, community groups, schools or private companies and all donations, no matter how small, will be warmly received and will mean a great deal to the people in our local communities who receive them.”

Bellan O’Brien, Development Worker states “We are delighted to support the Salvation Army and the amazing work of their volunteers this year. We realise not everyone can volunteer over the festive period, but this is a way to help make a positive difference in our community over Christmas. Donations can be dropped to the Volunteer Centre on Cromwell Street and will make sure ALL items are passed onto the Salvation Army in Stornoway so they can share them throughout the island to adults and children at this time of year”
