MV Isle of Lewis is out of action today (Monday 15 April.)

The sailing originally planned at 1:30pm from Oban to Castlebay has been cancelled.

CalMac cite a combination of weather and technical issues as the reason for the closure.

As yet, it is unknown what is causing the technical issues. A Castlebay sailing had been cancelled earlier this month due to debris caught in the propellers.

The ferry operators told We Love Barra and Vatersay that engineers are still working on the vessel and they expect to have a clearer update later today, the review originally planned for 12pm has been rescheduled to 2pm.

Additional sailings have been proposed for tomorrow (Tuesday 16 April). The sailings would be for the Ardmhor/Eriskay and Mallaig/Lochboisdale routes.
